September 16, Wed {WW} Quarry Park Hike. Meet at 10:15 am in the parking lot at Quarry Park and Nature Preserve, 1802 County Road 137, Waite Park, MN 56387. Start hiking at 10:30 am. We will hike 4 miles altogether on mostly flat, gravel trails, first around the outer perimeter of the Park through pine and poplar trees and then on an inner loop to get a closer look at the pools formed from the quarry excavations. Carry your picnic lunch along with you on the hike in a small backpack because we will stop at the covered picnic tables at the quarry swimming beach for lunch. There are also restrooms at the beach. After lunch, we will walk ½ mile back to our cars. Bring along water and sunscreen. The Park entrance fee is $5 per car, so carpooling would be good.
