Deep
Portage: January 6-9th by Sally
Richards
Wow, we
arrive to fresh snow and find that the North Stars have the whole center
to ourselves.
Plenty of clean rooms and a few quiet corners
to read in plus a large room with a good view for eating, socializing,
puzzle
putting together and/or sitting by a warm fire.
Those of us
who had not been there before, discover that it is an Environmental
Learning
Center; nice to know that future generations
will learn about nature and the things that we as a group cherish.
There seemed
to be no end to the trails for skiing. If great cross country ski trails
weren't
enough, we were challenged to try out the
indoor climbing wall! Another new experience for some of us.
Thanks to
the trip planners for giving us good rooms, good food, great trails - all
at
a reasonable price. As always the fellowship
with other North Star Members was outstanding. Along with great skiing,
what
more could one ask
for?
